Memorial Day

So I went with my dad this weekend to visit my aunt and cousins way up north in the smallest town you could imagine. I haven't been in a while to visit so I spontaneously decided to go with him. He always likes to go to the lake there but I will never forget the winding road it takes to get up there which I'm sure would be magnified times a thousand now that I'm pregnant.
So I pretty much just hung out with the fam. I felt bad eating so much of their food but I can't go for more than 2 hours now without eating something.... it's pretty bad. People noticed I'm starting to show a little bit. Even my dad said something. I'd like to think it's not just me getting fat because it's concentrated in my belly but I think it's too early to start to show.
In other news Jimmy Choo was sick last week. I took him to the vet and they gave him some fluids so now he's much better. But they told me he needs to go on a diet. Apparently we've been feeding him way too much and he's gone from 17 lbs when we got him to 21.5 lbs in about 3 months! That's really bad! I guess it's sympathy weight ;)

Mother's Day

Happy Belated Mother's day to all you moms out there. Mother's day marks 11 weeks for baby Naldjian so I took my first official belly pic and posted them above. More bloat than anything but there's definitely something there that wasn't there before and I'd like to think it's baby and not all the food I've been eating from my new found appetite.
Yesterday was mother's day and I woke up to find my hubbs had brought me starbucks and doughnuts. I told him a week ago that I'd been craving a Krispy Kreme doughnut. Unfortunately there's no more of those around here so he got me some from a local shop and they were pretty good. He also got me a nice card. It's crazy to think that next year at this time I'll actually be a mother. It's finally starting to hit the two of us that our lives will never be the same.
We had a very low key day. My sister was in town so we went to church and brought her along. Then we hung out at my parents and took my mom out to dinner.
When we got home we watched home movies of my dad as a kid that he recently had put on to a dvd. It's crazy to see your parents as little kids. I wonder what this baby will think about us as kids? All I know is this is going to be one cute baby ;)

Introducing Baby Naldjian

We had our first ultrasound yesterday. Here's a pic of our little "hamster" as my dad so eloquently put it. It was such a crazy experience. As soon as the screen turned on I saw our baby moving around, arms and legs flailing. I don't know why, but I just assumed we wouldn't see much movement this early on. She measured the baby and he/she is 3 cm. long. So according to that we're at about 10 weeks 3 days as of today. So that pushes our due date back to November 29th.
She talked about all the different tests they can run to check for down syndrome and such, so we decided to just run a blood test as I'm pretty low risk. Keeping our fingers crossed for a healthy baby. We're both still leaning towards boy, but we'll find out mid June for sure. Alright, back to work.... baby's are expensive!

My mom's so excited!

A few days ago, me, Abe, and my mom went to Babies R Us. My mom really wanted to go look at all the baby stuff. It was so cute to see how excited she was. We looked at travel systems and I found one I liked and she was pushing it around the store "for practice." Then she said she wanted to buy it for us. Of course we're grateful but I'm only 10.5 weeks. I think it's a little early to be buying strollers.
We have our first ultrasound next Tuesday in the afternoon. I'll be 11.5 weeks then, unless they tell me otherwise, so I'll feel comfortable telling everyone after that. So many people know anyways because our families were so excited they couldn't keep it to themselves. But there are quite a few friends who don't know. How do you go about telling everyone? It's awkward to call up a friend who you don't see very often and say "hey I'm pregnant." But is it even more awkward to put a posting on facebook saying "hey everyone I'm pregnant!" I don't know I guess I'll see when the time comes.
