About Me

Hey folks! Thanks for checking out my little blog. I'm Krista! Wife to the amazing Abraham, and mommy to the adorable Farrah. California girl for life. Soon-to-be Pink Cadillac Sales Director with Mary Kay. I met the love of my life in college in 2005, we were married in 2008 and were blessed with the most amazing little girl Farrah in December of 2009. I am a self-proclaimed lover of trashy TV, starbucks, diet coke and Target... but who isn't right? This blog started off as a way for me to document my pregnancy and has become so much more. It's an outlet, a way to keep in touch, it's my story. Thanks for stopping in. Stay a while, won't you?

Happier thoughts

Thanks for all of the kind words I've received from people regarding the last post. Miscarriage is never easy but I will same I'm doing fine now. Had I been much further along it would have been more difficult.
So now on to some happier thoughts. I recently got to do something I'd been wanting to do for a long time. I bought my husband a car. As you can probably tell from my posts, I kind of won the lottery when it comes to husbands and because he is so amazing and has sacrificed a lot to allow me to pursue my dreams, I wanted to be able to show him that it paid off and now he can reap the rewards too. So, while I'm notoriously horrible at keeping secrets (which is good I guess because who wants to be known as good at keeping secrets from your spouse?) I knew I had to do my best to keep my mouth shut and pull this off. I have a separate checking account that honestly doesn't get used all that often. Almost everything gets paid through our joint account but I decided to brush the dust off this account and use it as my "secret account." I started putting the profits from my sales of my Mary Kay business into this account and built it up until I had enough for a down payment. I went in to the dealership by myself ::cringe:: armed with my new found lovely internet car buying knowledge and was able to get the price down by $7000! I was doing the happy dance inside but trying to keep cool, calm and collected on the inside.
Now came time for the surprise. His old jeep that he's had since he was 16 has recently developed a tendency to die for no reason, then we tow it to a garage and they can't find anything wrong with it and it magically drives again until the next time it decides it wants to go on an extended vacation. So I got my friends in on the surprise and asked one of my best friend's who just bought her first home to ask to borrow his jeep so we can go to Lowe's to pick up some bigger things she purchased for the home. I went with her to "help." When we got there, we called him and told him his car died in the parking lot and asked him to come pick us up. I was hiding in the new car behind a tree in the parking lot and when he arrived and started the car right up he seemed confused/frustrated that we made him come over and the car was fine but before he could say anything I pulled up in the new car and got out and said "I heard you needed and new car!" To say he was surprised is an understatement. More like shocked and confused. After he came down off the initial shock, he was very excited. He gets to drive a nice new car and I get the peace of mind knowing he won't break down 2 hours from home at 3am after work.
All I have to say is I'm so glad I didn't quit my job when things were difficult and I stuck with it because now my family will get to reap the rewards for the rest of our lives. It reminds me to work from commitment and not emotion. Now that he has a new car I get to work on the next goals. Next stop... credit card debt free!
